POSTER & LOGO DESIGN
My task was to create a visually stunning and impactful production logo and poster to promote their new and original show, "Decoration Day." This coming of age story set in 1940’s San Francisco, California, explores the effects of World War 2 on the cultural climate and the rise of racisim. The show combines jazz with contemporary music to create a unique and emotional experience for the audience.
For the poster, I aimed to evoke a strong emotional response from potential audience members by capturing the themes of danger and romance. I utilized a cast member of the show as the model for the poster, which was taken during a rehearsal by the production team. This added a personal touch and gave the poster a more authentic feel. The background images were a combination of stock images that were carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic of the poster.
The poster was designed to be eye-catching and memorable, with bold typography, romantic colours, and impactful imagery.
The logo for the production was inspired by the U.S. Army medal font. It was created to effectively represent the essence of "Decoration Day."
In the end, I delivered both the logo and poster in various file formats suitable for printing and digital use. Laura and Trevor were extremely pleased with the final designs, and felt that they effectively represented their production.
